I don’t teach literacy; I need to keep students moving. This session will explore how physical education teachers can use disciplinary literacy strategies to engage students and support schoolwide literacy efforts. Participants will explore the use of alternative text, literacy strategies, aligned with PE standards, while keeping students moving.
When students have choice within the physical education curriculum, instruction, and assessment process, they develop a sense of autonomy that can be highly motivating. The purpose of this session is to introduce strategies for integrating student choice and voice into your K-12 physical education program.
